A. Jane Milburn

Jane is the founding partner of Milburn & Associates and has focused her practice on employment law and commercial litigation since she was called to the bar in 1997. She regularly advises clients about employment terminations, written offers of employment, constructive dismissal cases and international assignments. She has a particular wealth of knowledge and experience in dealing with employment issues for executives in the financial services and mining industries and has a high degree of familiarity with compensation and employment practices in that industry. She also has expertise advising clients in situations where discrimination, harassment or bullying arise.
Jane has appeared as counsel in all levels of court in Ontario and attends mediations and arbitrations on behalf of clients. Jane has appeared as a panel member on CBC Newsworld and she has spoken at conferences hosted by the Law Society of Upper Canada and the Ontario Bar Association. In 2016, Jane presented on the recent jurisprudence related to bonus and incentive compensation issues for executives at the 17th Annual Employment Law Summit hosted by the Law Society of Ontario. Jane has been interviewed by The Globe and Mail, The Lawyers’ Weekly, the National Post and other leading publications. She is a member of the Advocates’ Society, Canadian Bar Association and Women in the Capital Markets. She completed her law degree at the University of Toronto and holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Western Ontario.
Jane is proud to have built her practice primarily through referrals from past clients, other counsel and referrals from parties she has previously litigated and bargained against. She is highly respected in the legal and business communities in Toronto.
